coconut oil for EVERYTHING

Recently I have been researching all things organic to use for my body. I feel as though when I look at products, I cant even tell what it is some of them, I am not going fully organic, and although I still put things that are harmful inside my body when I am eating, I can only change one thing at a time!
So I came across coconut oil, I am so shocked more of my friends don't use this for everything. It is fairly cheap, I even found some cheaper at Walmart than Trader Joe's, with Trader only being about 5 bucks for 16 fl oz. So far I have used coconut oil for lotion, ( I have extremely dry skin, especially on my forehead and prone to break outs on my chin and nose) I have used it for cooking (I have two jars one for bathroom, one for cooking), makeup remover, it also has a natural spf of 4! There is also oil pulling, for your teeth, that I dont know much about but on my list of things to research soon. It apparently is really good for your teeth.
You can look at the huge list of use for coconut oil here.
But, my all time favorite use for coconut oil is conditioner! I only use it about once a week, but I have noticed a huge difference, and my friends who I have pressured into using it, have noticed a big difference!
I have frizzy wavy hair with tons of spilt ends from the heating styling tools I use, plus I am trying not to get my montly trims and letting my hair grow out, but using coconut oil, I have even noticed my hair growing faster!

I wait til its a little warm, the colder it gets, the more of a 'solid' it will take, the cooking one in my fridge is a solid, but the one in my bathroom, since it gets warmer in there with the shower, its liquid.
After it is a liquid (you could microwave it if needed) I put it al over my hair. i start from tip to root, because I feel like my tips need it the most.

Just warning you its going to feel like your havent washed your hair in about three years, its extremely heavy and will weigh your hair down.

I let it saturate my entire head

waiting 30 mins, looking like a 50s greaser!

After waiting 30 mins, I take a shower, rinse it out, then shampoo my head, I DO NOT use other conditioner, as this is to much and will weigh your hair down and be hard to style it once out of the shower.

Afterwards I style my hair as usual!

If you have any other uses for coconut oil, please let me know, I am dying to try anything with it.

It really has been a lazy summer day. Im trying to enjoy the last bit of it, and wear my summer clothes as much as I can because once I smell even the ever slight change of leaves, bonfires, and the weather drops even a couple degrees, I'm fully inclined to back away anything that doesnt have arms, that isnt crisp yellows, oranges or reds. haha but for now you have to be tortured into seeing more of my white creamy skin.

Our Love Story

Do you ever look at your partner, boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever you want to call your significant other and think, what the hell did I get myself into?
I do that quite often, because I'm seriously dating, myself.
Wait, let me rephrase that, I'm not making out with my hand, nor do I have multiple personality disorder and dating another personality in my head.
I just mean that the man I am set to marry, is exactly like me, in male form.
Chris and I met on a very popular, and kind of sketchy website called Plenty of Fish. I know, believe me I know what you're thinking, most of the time I don't even admit that to myself, or to other people. Normally I tell people we met through a friend of a friend of a mutual friend. A little white lie never hurt anyone ;)

On my profile I wrote out in big bold letters, "I AM NOT HERE TO HOOK UP, I AM ON HERE TO SEE IF THIS WORKS OUT IN MY FAVOR, PLEASE DO NOT MESSAGE ME ASKING ME FOR MY PHONE NUMBER OR TRYING TO HAVE A FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS"

I had been on the site previously, just searching around and no matter what the guys would ask me for my number within the first two messages or would want to bone. sorry player playa, but no.

One day, as I usually am, I was bored and browsing profiles and came across Chris. Funny enough plenty of fish has this awesome feature were you can basically view anyone that stalked your page and he had viewed mine so i went to take a look. I thought "he's out of my league" and moved on. He then saw that I viewed him and took that initiative to message me. He was very nice but only talked about music and concerts. FOR THREE WEEKS. He tried to connect with me through music, but I was very confused as if someone was on a dating website why they chose to use it as a music forum.  Eventually we moved our convos to Facebook.

We talked for a while and then Chris started asking me to hang out, ever the shy one i refused at first, then eventually gave in, after a couple of episodes where I stood him up out of fear.

On the night that we met, I literally had the nervous poops lol, I was in the bathroom like every 15 mins til he came, when he walked in, it literally took my breathe away. We went dancing with a group of my friends and he danced and didnt care, which was a major turn on for me.

The night we first met

Then afterwards we sat in my car til the sun came up just talking. He would lean in and try to kiss but I really am a prude.

Eventually we were inseparable, spending every day we could together. He lived about an hour away from me and had planned to moved two hours away back to his home town to fix some family problems with his mother, but paid an extra month in his apartment with only a bed and some other stuff to survive for a month, just so he could see if this was going anywhere, because he had a feeling I would say forget about it cause it was a long distance relationship.

Chris and I fell fast, and were pretty much saying I love you within a months time, and have spent as much time as we could together. I went to stay with him in his home town for a while and eventually moved back in with my family once my mom got sick.

We also merged two families, because I have a son who lives with us full time and he has a daughter that he only gets in the summers. We are engaged and planning out our future and I wouldn't trade anything for our life.
Our family

We have been through a lot together, and believe me, we fight. WE FIGHT ALL THE TIME. over everything, I am completely stubborn and selfish, but Chris is the EXACT same. Its literally like fighting with myself. We literally just got into it because I drank his grape Powerade after he drank one of my sodas. We get on each others nerves all the time, and I would describe us like Allie and Noah from the Notebook. But I love him, and sometimes when you're not looking, love does find you, but you cant be really guarded and afraid of the unknown, or unable to do something you would look down upon *like me with the website plenty of fish* Just be one who knows themselves, and who loves themselves, who is able and ready for a relationship, and this whole "if you look for it you wont find it" I think its crap. I looked, I wasn't actively trying to find it for days on end and getting upset but I did put myself out there. Which I think is all anyone really can do and let fate take its course!

better late then never

I havent been really feeling very well for the past couple of days, ten to be exact. This time of year is always hard for me, my mother died on the forth of July and last year I wasn't so bad, I got up and forced myself to go to my cousins house and hang out. This year I just don't have any energy at all, I used to make to do lists and fly through them, but lately I just breeze through the day and not really tackle anything that doesn't need to be done right away.
I used to live by Abraham Lincoln's quote " do not put off tomorrow what you can get done today" but, I say, if you go through a really tough time, put it off, maybe a couple of weeks. Do things that make you happy, but don't neglect everything around you that needs to get done. If you need a couple of extra days to sit and sort stuff out in your head, then do it.

On a more cheerful note I didn't just sit around on forth of July, I went and bought some fireworks with the fiance, and watched him blow some stuff, ate some really nice steaks , did a little shopping and watched some Netflix. Not to shabby if I do say so myself. I hope everyone had a great holiday!

I wore these earrings, but they are kind of out of focus but they are stars and I thought it was cute and reminded me of fire works

I wore my sparkly Wizard of Oz shoes instead of patent ones because fireworks are sparkly! lol it makes sense in my head.

Herbal Essences Naked

I seriously love the smell of this dry shampoo! As someone who dyes her hair in a multitude of colors quite frequently, it is advised to not wash your hair everyday, my stylist would  agree! I live on dry shampoo to trick people into the fact that I have incredible hygiene. Most dry shampoos, I dont know why, but I will use them once, and afterwards for some reason they seem to leak out causing me to only be able to use it once. The other ones that do not have that problem, leave a horrible powder residue that causes me to gag every time I use it in a small space.

I didn't wash my hair for three days before using this product, I recently put in orange streaks and Im trying to make them last.

I used this product and then ask my fiance if he could tell when the last time i showered and he couldn't! I can truly say this stuff works, and it leaves a great smell. It also adds ton of volume! Go check it out!

All the photos are after using the dry shampoo.

My awesome video of me making a fool out of myself, for good measure.

All opinions are entirely my own.

Getting back into the swing of things

I haven't been wanting to even dress up or do much of anything, in the Midwest, it is already in temps ranging to 100 degrees. So I mostly wear my swimsuit or soffee shorts and a tank.

I love this outfit though, it seems like a lot of layers, but its really cool, the lace top is very sheer, and under it is just a tank, with the bottom peplum so it doesn't stick directly to my skin. I really should wear jean shorts, but I truly have never been a jean shorts person, although I did buy my first pair at American Eagle the other day! I just don't feel like they do much for me, but its not like I am afraid to wear skirts.

I hope everyone is staying cool, and having a good last couple days of spring!

Please excuse the wiring in the background, I gotta find a cute place to take my pictures.

New Look

As you can tell, I used to go by the name Beatnik Beatrix, I decided that I wanted a whole new look, I couldn't think of a new name so I went with my nickname (hey it was better than my childhood nickname, shortstop for when I played soft ball ). I don't know exactly where the nickname copperfox came from, but once I was called that, the name just stuck.

I went by a pseudonym because I sometimes see how these bloggers get treated and harassed and I was afraid something horrible would happen to me, I am always the worst case scenario.

I still stand by everything I always did, and I am still the same person, I hope everyone will continue to stick around.

If you got the poison I got the remedy.

Ouchie

With the summer coming up, and the sun already making us ginger kids with no souls go into a tizzy when we can feel our skin baking in the suns mighty heat deathly glow. As someone who has been burnt, quite a few  times in my past ( my mom never informed me really about how deadly the sun can be to my precious skin and didnt contest when for my first bikini I chose a black one! Thanks mom!) I know a thing or two about making yourself feel better after being badly burnt. This however wont make your sunburn go away, this is only to make yourself feel better and hopefully get some sleep.

This might look a little odd, and no were not doing any science projects of making volcanoes, but you can still see a little scientific stuff going on. The first step is to make a luke warm bath, not to hot because your skin is already burnt, but not to cold, and put throw in some baking soda and vinegar. (if you watch closely you can see them interacting with each other in the water) Soak in the bath for 15 mins, on each side, or all parts that are sunburnt. Do not use any soap, most soaps have stuff in them that dry your skin out even more which defeats the purpose of this bath. The reason I bathe in vinegar and baking soda is that it takes out the sting of the sunburn.
Soaking my cares away, I mean the sting away.

If you have blisters I would advise to pop the blisters with a STERILE needle and let them drain, keeping the skin on it, not peeling it off. I recommend doing this after the bath so the bath doesn't get into the area and your skin will hurt less after the bath.

After the bath, pat yourself dry, try not to rub, I always have to remind myself because I dry off any which way just to not get cold after bathing. Next I take some allergy medication (this is incase you are allergic to the sun or swell) and some ibuprofen ( this is also an anti inflamatory which will help if you start to swell and well as a pain reliever. I then definetely remember to take my multivitamin, because I feel like the sun took out some of my vitamins, and hey, it cant hurt. Lastly make sure you drink a lot of water, you can become really dehydrated, as well as your skin being dehydrated now that it is burnt.

I dont even understand how only this part got burnt?!

The next process is ALOE VERA AND LOTS OF IT! Apply it whenever you want, keep it in the fridge so its cold for you to put on your skin, if you have an aloe vera plant, even better, cut off a leaf, slice it open, and rub directly onto your skin.

Make sure you get plenty of rest, and drink water, and keep your skin hydrated.

I know this might be gross, but keep some anti diarrhea medicine around. Sometimes I get some issues with that when I get burnt.

One more thing, If your face is really badly burnt, instead of submerging it into the bath for 15 mins, make a baking soda paste with just baking soda and water, and put it on your skin, leave on for 3-5 mins depending on how burnt you are. I would not leave it on longer because baking soda can drastically dry out your face, causing it to be even worse while it burnt. This part also kind of aches/hurts so be careful.

I hope this helped, I ALWAYS do this every time I get burnt and the next day, my skin might be a little tender but it makes a world of difference.

If you have any other advice or tips for sunburns, please leave them in the comments~!
