Frocktober

Did you know there is no known early prediction test for ovarian cancer?

Did you know that every ten hours, one woman dies from ovarian cancer?

Did you know that ovarian cancer is often diagnosed in its late stages and only 20%-30% of women will survive beyond five years of diagnosis?

Now did you know, survival rates increase to 80-100% when ovarian cancer is detected and treated early?

Not trying to sound completely like an infomercial but as a woman that is really scary especially when my mother died of cancer in the woman's reproductive system. The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation in Australia gave a new way to raise money to find a early prediction test for ovarian cancer. It just takes a girl, or even a man! to vow to wear a frock (dress) everyday in October and have friends/families/strangers to donate in behalf of your goal!

I am just about half way through the month and these are all my frocks so far! and please go donate on behalf of me, or anyone really!

Hocus Pocus

With Halloween fastly approaching I decided to post some Halloween costume ideas for those ballin on a budget!

My first outfit idea is Dorothy from Wizard of Oz

This costume cost me roughly about 30 dollars. Most of it I had (the wig, picnic basket, and the dog =] )
Obviously if you have longer hair you will not need a wig, Since I wear higher quality wigs already, I used one of them besides getting another one, but if you have shorter hair, and don't want to spend money on a wig, even though you can find them cheap at like Walmart, or the dollar store, you could go as punk rock Dorothy, or the new running theme as zombie Dorothy.

Dress- Forever 21
Shirt- Miley Cyrus for Walmart
Shoes- plain red flats from Walmart $6!
Picnic Basket- laying around my shed
Dog- the one and only Zoe bug

When did Halloween costumes become just about sex and not creepy, odd or scary or creative costumes? ....Being a princess is one thing but there is nothing royal about being a hoochie mama! They have sexy to go box costumes! I feel that Halloween should be brought back to old school ideas, when people actually couldn't afford stuff like that, and had to make it, and ultimately made the costume ten times cooler!

I think my Toto needs to go on a diet!

What are you going as this Halloween?

Wig Review

Hi guys!

Recently I decided to chop off all my hair, while I did not anticipate it being this short, some how the communication with my stylist just did not get across correctly.

I wanted this style :

and somehow ended up with this

haha I look very happy don't I?

I was not feeling this helmet head type hair cut I had going on so I went back in, and asked for a pixie cut and got this

But now that tinge of regret comes in, and yes I know its hair and it will eventually grow back, but I've always been known for my long red curly hair and I started to feel bad about the decision I had made.

Then a friend suggested I try wigs. I have ALWAYS been opposed to buying wigs, I thought most wigs only look good in black, and that most of them looked costumy and hallowish.
Boy, was I wrong, there is a bunch of wigs out there, and after really researching it, they have different aspects now then what I had been used to seeing.

I bought my first wig, by Vivica Fox, called Goldie, and I could not be more pleased. Im super lazy and kind of broke, so the idea, of having hair already done for you and with an awesome dye job, I WAS MISSSING OUT.

I did a wig review and you can check it out here...please be nice its my first one!

I think I have found my latest obsession!

If you have any suggestions or comments please leave them here or on the video, have you tried fake hair? what are your experiences?

Lets talk wigs!
Its unbeWEAVEable

haha okay I will stop! have a great weekend everyone!

a little break

As you can tell I have taken a little break from blogging, sometimes i get overwhelmed and i need to get other things outside of the digital world.

Life has been good! and I'm entering into my final semester in college! so maybe this will help pick me back up.

This summer was basically hanging out with my family (Chris's daughter was here for most of the summer as well) and reconnecting with my blood extended family.

I've lost a friend, that I realized didn't deserve to be there, although it still hurt.

I learned a lot about my relationships with Chris and Family, and with friends.

I interned at a law firm all summer, and got offered a job.

Now I feel like I again have something to offer the world of blogging so I am ready to jump back into it.

Here goes!

I hope you guys had a really nice summer, and got to experience it with your friends and family!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

I woke up this morning and it was cold again, after a tease day yesterday with a beautiful 70 degrees day!
Tonight they are calling for snow! Midwest weather is the worst.

Todays saving tip is...

If you dont have one of these in your town, try and find a store equivalent.
Did you know you can get Almay make-up, and makeup remover wipes (work just as good as olay).
There is so much beauty budgeting stuff there, you can get decorating, cleaning, household, food, and toys. I know people that get their parents Christmas gifts there.
Also there is this awesome website that shows you fun crafts you can do getting everything you need from the dollar store. My favorite are the wedding ideas and kid's birthday party ideas!

What I love this week-

I guess it should be what I love Thursday, but I've basically been in bed sleeping all week, and its my spring break- no bueno.

I will make this short and sweet.

I just got this book and it is hilarious. Brandi is one of my all time favorite housewives and she has no filter and lets balls hit the wall in this book, I seriously cant put it down but I will regret it when it is over and I cant experience it anymore. She has some guts talking the affair and even getting hpv from her partner, from getting vagina surgery. Highly Recommended.

Watching the first seasons of the real housewives of oc to catch up to the new season, its amazing how this show has changed.

GUILTY PLEASURE ALERT! I have no idea what I will do now that the season is over. I need more Stassi in my life.

Paramore's new song just came out- still into you I cant stop listening to it! I love how catchy it is and it makes me dance

This is dedicated to my snuggle bunny who our anniversary is coming up. I've had a lot of people discredit my relationship or judge off of the hard times instead of how much integrity and support Chris has inside! Chris is always there when I need him and hes there for my family when he could very well not be. He had been a tremendous rock for me since my mother has passed.  He has stepped up to the plate on more than one occasion. People grow and change thank goodness. If you cant accept him, you cant accept me n a large part of who i am and ultimately can't accept me. I love Chris and I'm a very lucky girl.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, it was 70 degrees here but all of us are sick and Chris has to work all weekend. boo. but at least sunday we are going to hobby lobby and maybe the zoo if I can stomach it! see you guys tomorrow!

I think every Saturday I will start giving you money saving tips that I have officially learned by
A. being a single mom
B. being a broke college student
C. growing up poor so I'm EXTREMELY frugal
D. Because I feel like sharing the wealth =]

While some of these might be unorthodox to you, that's fine, you do not have to partake in them!

This weeks saving tip:

ORDER FREE SAMPLES

just about every website will give you free samples. EVEN CHANEL!
I just got free cloth samples from a furniture company that mi going to use for my art! Most companies want you to get samples to see if you like them, so then you can come back and be a customer. I get laundry detergent, shampoo, makeup, perfume, ETC. When you are broke, those things are heaven sent! So get on some mailing lists, and if a certain product does not have a free samples link on their page, contact them by email. I have gotten a ton of free samples that way!
Hope this helps and come back next Saturday for another tip!

Grieving Process

Yesterday was the first of two really bad days for me. My mother passed away on the 4th of July last year, and yesterday was her birthday. Since it had been the first one I expected some feelings of depression and my O.C.D to do a complete freak out.
Which is did, my house is now clean, my laundry is completely done and my winter clothes are starting to be put away.

When I lost my mother it was very hard for me to remember anything about her right away, I couldn't remember my favorite memory, or her scent or even the last things I said to her. THAT IS COMPLETELY NORMAL!
I also found out who my real friends are. I had a lot of people tell me they "weren't good with death" I say NO ONE IS GOOD WITH DEATH. Its hard even when you hear that your high school bully has died. I had a lot of people disappear from my life and then months afterwards want to talk. I felt really hurt by this. You cant not be there when I needed you and then come back when I'm 'stable'. I also had people I had not talked to in years, or weren't on great terms, come to me and offer their support.

The best advice I can give someone even though there is nothing you can really do, if you are on the outside of the situation, just offer the person to talk or hang out. They probably wont take you up on it, but that little gesture fits in there.

If you are on the inside, its okay to be angry, (i certainly still am from time to time) its okay to cry ( i still do about once a week.) and its okay to be alone and just do things you want to do. Also I highly encourage talking to a therapist or someone like that. After my mother died, I reached out to everyone that had lost a parent. Which can be like your own little support group. Hell, make a facebook page for it! but I realized that people can grieve a healthy way or a very unhealthy way with drugs and alcohol.

Speaking of crying, make yourself cry, it releases a lot of emotions that might turn into anger later. Once a week I tried to, by myself, watch a movie that made me bawl just to get some of that out of my system! It worked!

If anyone ever wants to talk about losing anyone, regardless if it is a parent or not, please contact me!

In honor of my mother, I'm going to post my favorite pictures of her.

my mother and me at a very young age. I just loved the this picture captures how much I was always next to my mom.

Her and I at an even younger age.

WOW, My mom and I after her wedding to my step father, and after I just had my son.

Three thanksgivings ago

My mom and I three years ago

a rare group shot of my whole immediate family, this happened the year she died.

etiquette

Last week, my college program director for the Paralegal invited me to go to a Business Etiquette luncheon. She only invited two other people from my program, so at first, I almost felt offended. Did I not impress her with my Victoria Secret PINK hoodie and sweatpants that I very much enjoyed sporting to my four hour night class in the winter?
I am not going to lie, i was a little taken back. I decided to go because since she is a program director and keeps stressing to take advantage of the free programs and seminars and classes you can take you better your career. After thinking about it, I decided to go, and it was one of the best decisions of my life. Not only did i get to learn valuable information :

like that you can see what bread plate and water glass is yours by remembering bmw. Bread Meal Water.

But I also got to network, impress my teacher, and get a free meal!

If you're debating doing something, I say go for it!

I was never one for stepping outside of my comfort zone, in fact I hate it, I tend to get really nervous and get really bad social anxiety. Try and do something each month that takes you out of your comfort zone! it might be the best thing you will do that month!

I'll leave you with a couple of more tips,
Watch what you put on facebook, EVERYONE checks it, you can use it for personal stuff, but make sure EVERYTHING is friends only because it can cost you a job. Instead use Linkedin.

Also that women that wear nail polish, are viewed as more put together (sorry tomboys and myself). Which I think is kind of unfair. I have O.C.D and instead of dealing with it so much and getting annoyed when one spot is chipped, I'd rather just keep them natural.

And one last thing, go to these seminars, employers like looking at that one a resume, it makes you stand out.
Hope Everyone has a good hump day!

Welcome Mat with funny pun

I have had a lot of thoughts rumbling in my head over the past 8 months, and no outlet. I tried crafts, painting, writing, and reading but something inside of me was MISSING. Do you ever feel that way? That hole that does not go away, you have ZERO motivation and ZERO determination. At first I thought it was just maybe a small bout of seasonal depression. Until it started happening in the fall, my favorite time of year. It got me really thinking about my life and the past year and all the differences I've faced. My mother recently died, so as the biggest factor, but after that horrible heartbreak I still felt like I was not quite my self.

With my mother passing and the tremendous new things I had to do to turn my life around, I felt my relationship with my fiance start to slip and I knew it was became I had all these emotions and NO WHERE to put them.

So here I am, starting to write down my thoughts and just get them to escape them from my head. Im not trying to make bank, I am just trying to survive .

Alittle about myself, Im Beatrix, I'm a 26 year old mother, engaged (finally!) and on my last year in college.
Here is a picture for your viewing pleasure.

I can't wait to start talking to people about what they think and how they feel about my blog.
I'm not going to cook something once a day, or turn something from goodwill into an instant masterpiece, I am however, going to be me!
There will be posts about the loss of someone very close to me, the relationship with my soon to be husband, plans for up coming weddings, my son, and his father (or lack there of) and just my inner most secrets ( IM A HUGE TEEN MOM FAN!) and my love for fashion! I'm ballin on a budget over here, so I want to share my tips with you!

I hope this becomes something great, and therapeutic!

Ta-ta for now
